How to get there

Porto Valtravaglia is a small village quite precisely in the middle of the eastern border of the Lago Maggiore. The next bigger towns are Luino (north), and Laveno (south), both distant about 8 km. In Laveno, there is the only ferry boat crossing the lake (Laveno – Intra, every 20 – 30 minutes).

DIRECTIONS BY CAR

Coming from the North (Switzerland)

• Take the highway exit Bellinzona Sud
• Continue heading south direction Locarno
• Attention/Tricky! at the roundabout in Quartino / Magadino:, take the left lane before getting into the roundabout! Do not continue in direction Locarno!
• In the roundabout, take the 2nd exit direction Dirinella
  There is no sign direction Luino but that is where you have to go
• Follow the lake south. Cross the border in Dirinella
• Continue to follow the road along the lake through Luino to Porto Valtravaglia
• After entering the village, and just after the supermarket UNES on the right, turn left into via Roma
• continue approx 200m. Casa Elisa, via Roma 80, is on the village square to your left

Coming from the South

• The general direction is Varese / Sesto Calende, then Laveno
• From Laveno, just follow the road along the lake, and then, after Caldè, the next village is Porto Valtravaglia
• Drive through the village along the lake
• As you start going slowly up hill, after approx 50m, turn right sharply into via Roma
• continue approx 200m. Casa Elisa, via Roma 80, is on the village square to your left

IF YOU COME BY TRAIN

Yes, there is a train station in Porto Valtravaglia 10 minutes walking distance to the house!
The line is Luino – Gallarate (Milano).

The station is already via Roma, albeit the other end. Follow the street for approximately 10 min. Casa Elisa, via Roma 80, is on the village square to your right.
